    WOOD one of three partners making up the Consortium MOMENTUM (construction management-as-agent contractor) is project managing the construction and assembly of more than one million components in world’s largest fusion reactor.

    As construction management-as-agent contractor, MOMENTUM is managing the construction and assembly of the first full-scale test reactor to include balance of plant and the Tokomak itself. Join us and play a part in the international effort to make fusion a viable source of almost limitless, carbon-free energy.

     

    Wood is recruiting for an Established Mechanical Construction Supervisor with 7 to 14 years of experience to work on the ITER Project near Aix-en-Provence, France. 

    He/She will be responsible for:

    • Safety of all parties acting within the work area that he is responsible to coordinate
    • Construction support to the Construction Area Manager and Construction Supervisor in his specific design area
    • Coordination of site construction activities for all executing parties within the allocated site area

    The key duties and responsibilities of the Construction Coordinator are:

    • Ensure that the site construction activities are executed safely
    • Leads by example as a safety role model to all parties
    • Coordination the execution of the construction work scope through construction and mechanical completion, handover to the pre-commissioning team, pre-commissioning activities and final handover to the operations team at start up
    • Ensures that the contraction work is properly identified, performed safely and efficiently with proper respect to all legal, regulatory and customer requirements
    • Coordinates contractor activities to ensure optimum work scheduling and execution
    • Assists contract to secure approval of PTW applications
    • Assists contractor to secure deliviery of materials made available at the work face in time to meet construction ROS dates
    • Coordinates cross site support services including scaffolding, lifting and handling
    • Monitors and coordinates site construction activities through daily involvement at site
    • Minimises site construction risk by identifying risks and ensuring mitigation strategies are deployed
    • Performs witnessing of ITP sampling and hold points
    • Ensures contractors inspection and test records are loaded to the Smart Plan to completions management system
    • Ensures auditable implementation of Nuclear safety PIA and PIC at site

    Please note the job offer would be based on a local French contract – this would not be an expatriate assignment.

    Specific Skills:

    • Significant relevant experience in senior construction site based position
    • Nuclear construction site based experience (desirable)
    • Experience of industrial completions and quality management systems
    • Good spoken and written English language skillsGeneral SkillsThe Construction Coordinator is a key role in managing the site activities and contractors.

    Essential skills include:

    • Leading and embedding a safety culture within the team
    • Strong ability to lead and to provide clear and concise direction to multiple contractors
    • Strong ability to coordinate concurrent activities safely
    • Strong sense of situational awareness and priorities
    • Must be proactive, possess good interpersonal skills and must be culturally aware
    • Managing processes within functional area in a compliant manner
